Big Expedia Fun

I had received some good and bad critics in my guestbook. Lately I was forced to close it because someone was attacking sending spam.  I built this page for  those people that have difficulties in  understanding the facts of my case or because I wrote it in a complicated way. My case is a complicated and long case still unresolved. Hope this new page might help. For those that regardless of the facts will still  try to insult me: feel free. I will keep all replies for some time. If you try to help EXPEDIA by insulting or harassing me be careful. You might just damage EXPEDIA’s reputation instead of helping them. For instance, one person tried before (read this letter). Do you think that person helped EXPEDIA? He or she only showed how rude are people that write in behalf of EXPEDIA.

- Who is this guy:? EXPEDIA knows perfectly well who I am, what I do, where I live, They have my phone number and personal e-mail address and knows what they did to try to scam me. It really doesn’t matter who I’m. I can be an average John D. or a celebrity. Of course, celebrities probably don’t book through EXPEDIA and EXPEDIA will not cheat them because of the massive bad publicity they will have. Imagine if a “red carpet celebrity” or a senator was treated like I was treated.

It doesn’t matter what I do, I can be a highly educated professional ,  an unskilled hard worker or a “homeless” that won a trip. I will not say I’m a believer, or a loving dad to win the sympathy of people. Whoever I am, whatever I do , whatever my race or religion is,  EXPEDIA has no right to treat a customer like they treated me. It is simply wrong, unethical, bad and deceptive business practice and it was an attempt to scam me. It wasn’t “a mistake” because EXPEDIA’s customer support team had several opportunities to solve the problem they generated: EXPEDIA  decided to ignore and tried to scam me. They did it because EXPEDIA is a big, powerful company and authorities are doing little or nothing  to prevent bad business practice from companies like EXPEDIA or protect customers from them.

- Is this case true? Yes.  Feel free to contact EXPEDIA (travel@expedia.com or travel@customercare.expedia.com) and ask them if something I wrote here is wrong. I asked them immediately after I post my first personal website. On Friday - February 24, 2006 5:58 PM I sent this e-mail to travel@customercare.expedia.com: “This message is regarding case ID: [REQ:21826350]. I haven’t received any response from EXPEDIA regarding my demand about documentation probing EXPEDIA indeed deliver the information in a timely manner to KLM. Please check this web site (I have done some updates): http://www.geocities.com/humbaba2000/BadExp.htm.
I’m sharing my case all over the internet with friends, travel agencies and media (I had already some visitors). If you find something I mentioned there is wrong let me know.“. I also asked EXPEDIA many times later in different e-mail and EXPEDIA never contacted me. I’m also inviting EXPEDIA to feel free to make a response to webmaster@victimsofexpedia.com. I’ll publish it here.

- Is this guy exaggerating? No. I’m only interpreting the facts. I’m also showing real e-mails or relevant part or e-mails I sent to  or I received from EXPEDIA.

- Is this guy trying to make “quick bucks”? No, I always told EXPEDIA that I only want to be  reimbursed for the services they never provided and for all the extra expenses I had due to EXPEDIA’s mistake. On Friday - October 21, 2005 6:05 PM I sent this e-mail to travel@expedia.com  “….All I’m asking now is a complete compensation of all the “extra” expenses I had at present (until 10/24/2005) due to this problem.…..” ….”…..As you see, at this point I’m only asking for all the money “extra” I’m spending and the loss of days at work I will have for the delay. Any other compensation at Expedia’s discretion will be appreciated…..”, “….At this point I’m not claiming for “personal” “psychological” and/or “emotional” damage since I’m still trying to negotiate in a friendly and reasonable way without lawyers. This will benefit both parts.  If I don’t receive an answer from you I will be forced to hire a lawyer to sue your company for all the losses I already had and all the future losses I would eventually have due to Expedia’s fault and because you are not doing anything to stop this and compensate….” . Does this e-mail sound like I’m trying to take advantage of EXPEDIA? Come on guys. I was only trying to get what I paid for and be compensated in a fair way.

- How do you make money?  I beg in the streets.

-  Why EXPEDIA never responded to this guy? As I mention before, EXPEDIA’s policy seems to be not to reimburse money for their own mistakes. I believe if they have to do that they are going to be out of business. In addition, there are plenty of other travelers that are unaware of how bad EXPEDIA is. The travel business is still profitable.

-  Why didn’t you just go to the counter and re issue a new ticket? Why didn’t you buy an e-ticket? Because my trip in question required a paper ticket. For some international trips you still need a paper ticket. It was an International trip (from Europe to South America) bought in USA. The Airline (KLM in Europe ) was willing to re issue a new ticket at the counter but they needed “special information” only EXPEDIA could provide. Here is when EXPEDIA failed for the third time. On January 24, 2006 I received this e-mail from KLM: “Dear Mr. XXXX, We thank you for your emails regarding your journey with KLM and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. First we would like to apologize for the late replay due to the wait of the historical search regarding your case. We can inform you that on the 3rd of October 2005 KLM contacted your travel agent to insert all applicable information to your booking number to be able to issue a new ticket. KLM also adviced that a fee of EUR 65.00 would be charged. According to our historical search we can not see any response back from your travel agent. We advice you to take your claim to your travel agent and they are welcome to contact us. We sincerely hope that your experiences will not deter you from flying with our company in the
future.

This e-mail shows that KLM wasn’t able to issue me a new paper ticket because EXPEDIA never provided the “Special information” and explains why I lost my trip due to EXPEDIA.

-  Is this site a waste of time? I don’t think so. If you surf in the internet you will findeveryday people complaining about EXPEDIA. They simply trusted them and now they are paying a price. Ask other victims. There are a number of complaints about EXPEDIA all over the internet. Feel free to contact and ask them. For “smart travelers” could be a waste of time. But for regular travelers is providing information about how bad things can go if EXPEDIA makes a mistake. More important it shows how abusive is EXPEDIA, how EXPEDIA’s promise is a joke. How EXPEDIA does not care about customers.

-  Why EXPEDIA doesn’t sue this guy for libel and slander and shut down this site? There are many reasons. The most important is because the best and absolute defense for libel and slander accusations is “truth”. And ‘truth” is in my side supported by a bunch of documentations. For instance, all e-mails and part of e-mails from EXPEDIA, KLM and myself are real messages (only the full names of people were edited to keep people’s privacy). I also have copies of the tracking number from UPS website showing that the envelope (where EXPEDIA sent my ticket) was lost. Of course, EXPEDIA’s army of lawyers can find something else to sue me. Let see……… I prefer not to be “silent victim” and do something for other “future” victims.
